Flax Seed

When you think flax seeds think ALA (alpha linolenic acid). This fatty acids works it's magic when it is digested and converted in the body to EPA which is the same omega 3 that you get in cold water fish. Different people have different conversion rates but even at the lowest end of the spectrum ALA contributes to health and energy. Aside from ALA, flaxseeds contain a good dose of fiber, several minerals and vitamin B6.

Anti inflammatory: Like several other ingredients found in our bars, flax seed has an uncanny ability to balance out the body’s inflammation response and protect against heart disease, arthritis, asthma and a host of other conditions that arise from unnecessary "flameage."

Cellular health: Surrounding every single cell in your body is a lipid (fat) membrane that acts as a gatekeeper, letting the good stuff in and blocking toxins while getting the bad stuff out. The makeup of this membrane is largely determined by the fat in the diet; quite simply "Mc Membranes" are less than ideal. By incorporating healthy fats into your diet you are building a better barrier for every cell in your body. The fat found in flax seed is pretty much like having a billion He-Mans working for you and he belongs to MENSA you know.

Lowering blood Pressure and Cholesterol: Some studies have compared flaxseeds to Statin drugs and have found the results to be similar or even in favor of flaxseeds. Once again, it all comes back to the power of whole natural foods, you just can't go wrong.

Dry Eyes: Kind of like the movie Titanic but with a lot less Leo. Flax seeds have been found to greatly reduce dry eye syndrome and improve overall eye health. The fat in flax seed helps to keep your eyes bright and functioning so you won't have to reach for the artificial tears unless you are auditioning for a local production of Flashdance.
